JOINTCASE - National Ultra Clean Air Audit
The largest UK based multi-centre trainee led collaborative project investigating the microbiological quality of ultra clean air in operating theatres during joint replacement procedures. This project is approved and supported by the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) and the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA). All elective orthopaedic units in the UK are encouraged to participate in this project. Participating collaborators will be named as collaborating authors on subsequent pubmed cited research articles. Each participating site will be encouraged to submit data on 15 patients. Microbiology settle plates will be distributed around the surgical field during each joint arthroplasty procedures. The plates will then be sent to the microbiology department and the number of microbial colonies from each settle plate will be recorded.
