Tom Key
Welsh Rep
Thomas Key is the Welsh representative for the BOTA Committee. He is currently working in Swansea as an ST6 registrar on the All Wales Orthopaedic Rotation and is an aspiring shoulder surgeon.
As the Welsh BOTA representative, Thomas is the voice of the Welsh trainees on the BOTA national committee in addition to a number of key roles within the Welsh deanery. These include being involved in organisation of the Welsh registrars’ academic day, held virtually the first time in 2020, organising the TOTY process in Wales, and most recently, organising a focus group for Welsh trainees to feedback and suggest improvements to maximise training opportunities in the COVID-19 era in the Welsh deanery.
For the BOTA committee, Thomas collaborates for BOTAs national projects including the BOTA congress and the Bare Bones/Sunday Supper educational series.
Outside of orthopaedic surgery, Thomas is a keen water sports enthusiast and particularly enjoys surfing at the local welsh beaches and sailing, where he previously competed at both a regional and national level.
