Career summary
I’ve been a Consultant Otolaryngologist and Auditory Implant Surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary since 2018, with a large subspecialist practice in auditory implant surgery, particularly in complex, local aesthetic and robotic cases.
I’m an elected member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Council, where I lead the national surgical and dental mentoring scheme and mentor development programme, and am Editor of Surgeons’ News magazine. I’m Past President of the North of England Otolaryngology Society (2022-25) and Past President of Women in ENT UK (2021-23)
I’m passionate about mentoring done properly, empowering motivated individuals to think independently, grow in confidence and make the contribution they’re capable of making.
I have played a role in the development of paediatric orthopaedic services within Wales, contributing to strategic planning, workforce development and the implementation of clinical pathways across the region. Nationally, I am a committee member of the British Society for Children's Orthopaedic Surgery (BSCOS) and a college examiner.
Education and mentorship have been central to my professional practice. I am committed to supporting medical students, trainees and colleagues through teaching, supervision and mentoring, helping others develop the confidence, skills and resilience needed for successful careers. I am currently training programme director and have held multiple educational roles.

Why do you want to be a mentor and what can you offer a mentee?
I enjoy helping people think through challenges, recognise opportunities and build the confidence to make their own decisions. I believe mentoring has the greatest impact when it empowers people rather than tells them what to do.
