Career summary
I qualified with my MBBCH from Alexandria University in 1992 and subsequently gained my MCH Ortho in 1999. Over the course of my career, I have developed extensive experience across international healthcare systems, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Singapore, and the UK. I achieved my FRCS (Surgery) from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2003 and my FRCS Trauma and Orthopaedic from the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh in 2022. I also hold a Sports Medicine Diploma and a Medical Education Diploma from the University of South Wales, and I have completed the BOA Future Leaders Programme.
I have a strong clinical interest in sports arthroscopic surgeries, joint replacement, and complex trauma. Alongside my clinical work, I am deeply committed to research and education. I have served as an Orthopaedic Clinical Lecturer at the National University of Singapore and currently act as a reviewer for several medical journals. I am passionate about improving standards of medical practice through research, with numerous publications and presentations in the field of orthopaedics.

Why do you want to be a mentor and what can you offer a mentee?
Throughout my diverse international career, I have experienced firsthand the challenges and rewards of orthopaedic training and practice across different healthcare systems. Having navigated the transition into the NHS and pursued the CESR Portfolio pathway for Orthopaedics, I understand the unique hurdles that trainees and specialty doctors face. I want to be a mentor to recycle my skills and share the insights I have gained from my extensive clinical, academic, and leadership experiences.\
I can offer mentees guidance on balancing clinical demands with a strong research portfolio, having published extensively and served on editorial boards. With my background in medical education and having completed the BOA Future Leaders Programme, I am well-equipped to support colleagues in their professional development, career transitions, and the development of effective management and leadership skills. I aim to provide a supportive space for mentees to discuss their career aspirations, navigate training pathways, and achieve a healthy work-life balance.
