Northern Ireland
I am interested in becoming the BOA Culture & Diversity Champion from Northern Ireland. I am currently working as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Belfast Trust. I have undergone a significant part of my Orthopaedic training in Northern Ireland, having worked here for nearly 15 years including working as a SAS doctor. I have successfully crossed various barriers in my career with support from the T&O Community in Northern Ireland and hence understand the challenges in building a more diverse and inclusive environment for our specialty.
Being one of the first candidates from BAME community to be appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Northern Ireland, I do feel that I can bring an unique perspective to this role and thereby helping to promote positive work culture change to ensure everyone feels welcomed, included and respected within T&O surgery in this deanery.
