Jeeshan Rehman
World Orthopaedic Concern
Jeeshan is a ST6 trainee in the Eastern Deanery, currently working at Addenbrookes Hospital. He did his undergraduate training at Imperial College London where he gained his MBBS qualification with an Intercalated BSc in Management. His foundation training was at St Marys hospital and Wexham Park hospital. He did his core surgical training in the Eastern Deanery, following which he undertook research at Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. During this time he undertook a masters degree in Orthopaedic Sciences at University College London. He then spent a year in Bangladesh opening a poly-clinic before embarking on his specialist training in the East of England.
Jeeshan currently sits on the British Orthopaedic Trainees Committee as well as the World Orthopaedic Concern executive committee. He was one of the original committee member of ORCA-Orthopaedic Research Collaborative of East Anglia. Jeeshan is keen on research and developing orthopaedic surgery in the developing world.
Role Responsibilities
This role involves helping to shape guidance for trainees and trainers to engage in overseas work ethically, safely, responsibly, and in a way that is beneficial to training. As well as taking part in general BOTA business and initiatives, this role also requires you to chair the WOC-UK trainee committee, to raise awareness of overseas training opportunities amongst UK trainees, and to generate ideas to bring to the BOTA committee to be promoted nationally. You will also be responsible for filling the WOC-UK session at the annual BOTA congress. This is a busy role with a lot of potential for growth. It presents a real opportunity for you to have a positive impact on Orthopaedic training for trainees at home and abroad.
