The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh – Edinburgh
This meeting will examine competency based training in surgery. How do we know our trainees are competent and ready of independent practice? How do we best train them to achieve this? How do we define and assess these competencies? We will explore these concepts through a series of state of the art presentations from the world’s leading experts in surgical education and training and discussion and Q&A sessions from the audience. This year’s meeting will have a series of practical workshops with topics such as simulation based training, giving effective feedback and getting the most from ISCP.
Our keynote speaker is Professor Mary Klingensmith, current president of the Association for Surgical Education and Mary Culver Distinguished Professor of Surgery, Washington. Other speakers include Professor Anthony Gallagher and Professor Nick Sevdalis, current editor of BMJ Simulation and Technology enhanced Learning, Professor Ian Curran from the GMC and Professor Olle Ten Cate from Utrecht.
Abstract submission closes 26 August 2016 – we accept abstracts on all aspects of surgical education and training. There will be a prize for best oral and best poster presentation.
