BOA Council Meeting – Report from June 2016
Meeting Report; BOA Council & Ed Board (29th June 2016)
The President of BOTA (Simon Fleming) attended this meeting and the hot topics were as follows
This was discussed in great detail. There were 372 applicants, with 298 attending, 215 appointed and a 19% rate of people declining offers. Further analysis will be performed.
The lack of London NTNs was also discussed and further investigations and answers will hopefully be forthcoming!
The UKITE exam is to be used in South Africa – they have bought the access to it for £3000 plus VAT – BOTA has asked how this money will be used to further training and the UKITE exam and was reassured that this is the case.
The Use of Physicians Assistants/Associates, Nurse Practioners etc
This was discussed in detail. It was made clear that when used properly, these AHPs can further training opportunities and support junior doctors in their duties. It was also made abundantly clear that when not used properly, when there are no clearly defined roles, that these AHPs can in fact inhibit or negatively effect training and that the BOA and BOTA must work to ensure this is not the case.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
