Zimmer Biomet Institute - Women in Orthopaedic Program

Innovation in medical technology and orthopedics benefits millions of patients every year. Research

regularly confirms that diverse teams increase innovation; this means all types of diversity, and gender

diversity is one important measure.

The Zimmer Biomet Institute’s has recently launched a Women in Orthopedics program that is committed

to improving diversity in orthopedics through three main activities:

- Programs that increase representation

- Peer support across experience levels and geography

- Working together with institutions and societies to build awareness

There are already more women in orthopedics than we might think, but there is a leaky pipeline from

medical students to residents, fellows and ultimately to female surgeons. Further, the funnel to the top is

very narrow. Women are under-represented in hospital leadership, in orthopedic societies and among our

own ZBI faculty. With WiO we are committed to addressing this imbalance.

You can find out more and join the community here: www.zbinetworkemea.com/women-in-orthopedics

WiO will succeed thanks to the engagement of orthopedic leaders and societies. And it’s not just for women. We need male allies and we want to hear from and involve the men in our industry, too. Together we will increase diversity and ignite even more innovation in orthopedics!
