Four nominations from each region were put forwards for the award; Mr Robert Cook  (South East), Mr Neil Valentine (East), Mr Michael Foxworthy (West) and this years overall winner, Mr Tim Dougall (North). Congratulations to each trainer and enormous thanks for their continued dedication to excellence in training.

At the SCOT meeting, some of the top Scottish register papers were also invited for presentation. Continuing the theme of excellence in training, Miss Sarah Gill took home to Dundee 1st prize for her research in Optimising Training in Trauma and Orthopaedics. This piece of research was highly valued by all of the SCOT team and Mr Ian Winson, President of the BOA who would like to promote further research into this area of study. Miss Kate Bugler and Mr Ewan Goudie received joint 2nd prize for the Edinburgh region. Well done to all.

At the SCOT business meeting, the Scottish Trauma and Orthopaedic Trainees Symposium is going from strength to strength after making a debut in September 2016. This year’s theme will be paediatric orthopaedics and promises to be a fantastic day of education for all Scottish trainees followed by a formal evening event. At this years STOTS, we will be awarding the inaugural ‘Bon Oeuf’ award for the Scottish trainee who is the most supportive, engaged and dependable colleague. This award has been promoted by BOTA and driven forwards by SCOT.
