We are offering 1 x £500 and 2 x £250 bursaries to help fund a medical elective, in Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery, either in the UK or abroad this academic year (2018/2019). The bursaries are open to all undergraduate medical students in a UK medical school.
Who Can Apply?
You are eligible to apply if you are an undergraduate medical student in a UK medical school about to go on electives or currently doing your electives. You also need to be a BOTA member. Membership with BOA (British Orthopaedic Association) includes a membership to BOTA for medical students. To join BOA (and BOTA) for only £10 annually just follow this link.
How To Apply?
- Write a description of the aims of your planned elective, and explain how this bursary will be of benefit to your future career (maximum 600 words). Please provide details of how the money will be spent, including approximate amounts in pounds.
- Submit a one-page Curriculum Vitae
- Submit a copy of correspondence from your supervisor confirming your elective plans

What Happens Next?
Following review by the BOTA Committee, the 3 successful applicants will be notified by 11th May 2019. All successful applicants are required to submit a written report on their return, detailing their elective experience, for publication in the BOTA Yearbook. All successful applicants will be offered the opportunity to give an oral presentation at the next BOTA Congress during the medical student stream.
