Fortius Clinic is the UK’s leading private orthopaedic and sports injury group. Fortius has availability for a Clinical Knee Fellow in Knee Surgery. The Fellowship offers experience in soft tissue and arthroplasty procedures, including involvement in robotic replacement and complex soft tissue knee surgery. This post will be predominantly working with Mr Sam Church and Mr Jonathon Lavelle, two of our renowned consultants, at Fortius Clinic and at other private hospitals.
The successful candidate will be exposed to all aspects of knee surgery and will also be expected to participate in research.
Candidates should be GMC registered with a current VISA to work in the UK. Ideally the successful candidate will be post-CCST but less experienced candidates may be considered.
We have an immediate vacancy with the start date of July 1st 2018. This fellowship is for 6 months, however a shorter period may be considered. We also have a vacancy for January 2019 – June 2019. These fellowships are funded by Smith & Nephew, with a salary of up to £64,000 per annum pro rata.

Background to the post:
This post is available to registrars who have completed their training in Orthopaedic Surgery (post-CCST) and who wish to sub-specialise in knee surgery. Applications are welcomed from The UK and abroad.
Specific training objectives are set at the beginning of the post module after discussion with the Consultant trainer. The successful applicant will spend his/her time in the orthopaedic surgery department at The Fortius Clinic, London and also the Lister and Cromwell Hospitals
The Fellow will participate in all activities relative to their training needs as established at initial appraisal and objective setting. The Fellow will attend outpatient clinics and surgery with their supervisors as well having the opportunity to spend time with other Fortius surgeons, musculoskeletal radiologists and sports and exercise medicine specialists. They will have the opportunity to be involved in basic sciences research, through links with Imperial College, London.
There is no formal requirement to cover trauma or any requirement to be on-call. The postholder should be prepared to perform “out of hours” duties during occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances. Commitments arising in such circumstances are, however, exceptional and the postholder will not be required to undertake work of this kind for prolonged periods or on a regular basis. The post is non-resident.
There may be changes in work rotas in the light of the needs of the service. Any variation will be discussed with the postholder.
