The post includes primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery and trauma, and the operative exposure can be tailored to the needs to the fellow, particularly with respect to hip revision arthroplasty and periprosthetic fracture fixation. The unit performs over 2400 primary joint replacements per year and a large number of revisions. The fellow will work with a team of 3 hip/knee revision surgeons (Partington, Carluke, Reed) along with two specialist registrars, who tend to focus on primary joint replacement. The team performs 681 joints replacements annually according to NJR figures, including 84 revisions.
